What is a sensory gym?

A sensory gym is an indoor space built around hands-on movement: swings, climbing elements, balance activities, soft mats, tactile play, and quieter areas. Different by Design designs, builds, and installs custom sensory gyms in homes, clinics, and schools.

Do you have a gym I can visit?

No. We are a design and installation company, not a play facility. Every gym we build lives in a client's home, clinic, or school. To see our work, browse the gallery or step inside the 3D tour.

Who do you build gyms for?

Families who want a sensory gym at home, and clinics, schools, daycares, and community organizations that need a shared space. Tell us who will use the room and we design around them.

How does the process work?

Four steps: a consultation about your room and goals, measurements and photos of the space, a custom design we refine with you, then build and installation. One team handles all of it.

How much space do I need?

Room dimensions, ceiling height, existing fixtures, and clearance around equipment all shape the options. Smaller rooms usually mean fewer priorities and equipment that keeps the floor useful, but they can still work well.

What kinds of equipment do you use?

Climbing walls, cocoon and platform swings, balance paths, crawl tunnels, trapeze and rings, padded flooring, and calming nooks, among others. Visit the equipment page to compare several of them.

Can I choose the colors and layout?

Yes. Every gym is custom, from the layout and equipment mix to padding and paint. We design with you and revise until it fits the room and the people using it.

Can I include our therapist in the design?

Yes. If your child works with an occupational or physical therapist, they are welcome in the conversation. Their input helps us choose equipment that supports what your child is working on.

What should I include in a project inquiry?

The room type, approximate dimensions, who will use it, and the activities you want. Mention furniture that must stay, access constraints, or timing questions you already have.

How do I find out about cost and timing?

Every project is priced and scheduled around its own room, equipment, and preparation work. Send us the basics and we will give you a clear picture of scope, cost, and timeline.

Can the gym change as my child grows?

Yes. Equipment can be adjusted, swapped, or added as needs change. Talk with us about updates to an existing gym at any time.

A question about your project?

Start with what you know.

For a home, clinic, or school, tell us what kind of room you have, who will use it, and which activities interest you. Approximate dimensions and any constraints are useful starting points.

Still curious?
